Wear OS App Draining Phone Battery Fast: 6 Ways To Fix It ASAP

Google’s Wear OS (previously known as Android Wear) has been in the market for some time now. After a few years, we are finally seeing some great improvements here. Some of the top smartwatches today run on Google’s Wear OS, and more watch manufacturers are making their own Wear OS smartwatches, and it seems like Wear OS is definitely moving in the right direction. This will no doubt attract more users in the future. However, even with all the improvements, it still has a few issues. One common problem that Wear OS users are currently facing is the Wear OS app draining phone battery fast.

If you recently bought a Wear OS smartwatch and currently have this problem, you’re definitely not alone. There might be various reasons why this is happening, the problem might be with either your watch or your phone. Regardless of what the cause is, there are some ways you can fix this problem, which is what we will be talking about in this post. Here are 6 ways to fix this problem.

Restart your smartwatch and your smartphone

The phrase “have you tried turning it off and turning it on again?” applies here as well.

Like with a previous post written here about the Apple Watch not pairing with iPhones, it might be a good idea to try restarting both devices.

As was mentioned in the previous post, restarting both devices may terminate some glitches that might be causing the problem here.

To do this, simply swipe down on your smartwatch’s screen and swipe left until you reach the settings icon, and then restart the watch.

Do the same thing for your smartphone. How you restart your smartphone will vary depending on what type of smartphone you have.

This is by far one of the easiest fixes you can do, but this might not work 100% of the time.

Disconnect from certain Wi-Fi connections

In some cases, certain Wi-Fi networks are what cause a smartphone’s battery to drain so fast. This may be the case for you as well. Try to see if your smartphone battery drains faster when you are connected to certain Wi-Fi networks at work for example.

If that is the case, try switching to a cellular network and see if that fixes the problem or not.

Switch off notifications that you don’t need

Although this might not solve the root of the problem, turning off notifications that you don’t need can still help save battery life on both your Wear OS smartwatch as well as your smartphone.

To do this, go to the Wear OS app on your smartphone, and go to Settings. From there you can block certain app notifications. This has already been mentioned in a previous post, as well as other ways to prolong the battery life of your Wear OS smartwatch.

Stop or uninstall some apps

Some corrupted or broken apps might be the cause for draining your smartphone’s battery life fast. Check your phone’s battery usage and see if some apps are using up an alarming amount of battery life.

To do this, simply go to your smartphone’s Settings, and Battery. From there you will be able to see which apps are using up the most amount of battery.

You might want to consider stopping or even uninstalling certain apps that are draining you smartphone’s battery fast.

Update to the latest version of Wear OS

It is always a good idea to update your software to the latest version. This may solve the problem as it may fix some issues that the current software has.

Reset your smartwatch to factory settings

Finally, if none of the solutions above worked, you could try resetting your watch to factory settings. This will cause you to lose any data stored on your watch, but this may also fix the problem of your smartphone’s battery draining too fast.

To do this, just go to your smartwatch’s settings, and reset your smartwatch. After doing this, you could also try uninstalling and then reinstalling the Wear OS app on your smartphone. After all of that, try pairing your smartwatch and your smartphone and see if the problem gets fixed.

The Wear OS app draining phone battery fast is just one of the problems that Wear OS currently has. But as you can see, there are plenty of ways to fix this problem. So if you just bought a Wear OS smartwatch and are having this problem, don’t be afraid, because it can be fixed.

Google has made an effort into improving the Wear OS platform. Wear OS smartwatches are great and some of the best smartwatches today run on this platform, but it still has some issues. They may not be perfect as of now, but the truth is, there may never be a perfect device, at least not in the near future. So don’t let this problem stop you from buying and enjoying the full potential of Wear OS smartwatches.
